Description
In nature, Bucephalandra usually grows on rocks or wood in rivers and streams—much like Anubias, which they resemble regarding use and care in the aquarium.
The creeping stem, rhizome, must not be covered when planting. This will cause the plant to rot and die.

Aquascaping Attachment: Secure the rhizome directly to driftwood, lava rock, or hardscape features using aquarium-safe cyanoacrylate gel or fishing thread until its roots anchor naturally.
-
Avoid Substrate Rot: Never bury the thick horizontal rhizome under substrate, gravel, or soil, as root and stem rot will occur rapidly.
-
Low Maintenance: Ideal for low-tech setups, nano tanks, and shrimp aquariums. Minimal care is needed beyond occasionally removing old or decaying foliage.
