Description
Glossostigma elatinoides is a very low-growing, creeping marsh plant from Australia and New Zealand. It became famous worldwide in the 1980s through the work of Takashi Amano, who used it to create stunning, dense green carpets in his Nature Aquariums. Known as "Glosso," it is one of the smallest aquarium plants available, making it the premier choice for foregrounds in aquascaping.
This plant is demanding and requires high light intensity and a consistent supply of CO2. If the light is too weak, it will tend to grow vertically rather than creeping along the substrate. When planting, it is best to divide the pot into small clumps and plant them a few centimeters apart using tweezers; under good conditions, these will quickly grow together to form a solid mat.
