Description
Hemianthus callitrichoides 'Cuba', often called "Dwarf Baby Tears," is one of the smallest aquarium plants in the world. Discovered by Holger Windeløv in a riverbed on the island of Cuba, it has become a classic in the aquascaping world. With leaves only a few millimeters wide, it grows creeping along the substrate to form a highly attractive, dense, bright green carpet.
This plant is significantly more demanding than the similar-looking "Montecarlo." It requires strong lighting and a consistent CO2 supply to thrive and stay compact. When conditions are optimal, it produces visible oxygen bubbles ("pearling"), creating a stunning display. It is the perfect choice for the foreground of Iwagumi layouts and detailed nano aquariums.
